On NutritionFacts.org, you'll find a vibrant community of nutrition enthusiasts, health professionals, and many knowledgeable users seeking to discover the healthiest diet to eat for themselves and their families. As always, our goal is to foster conversations that are insightful, engaging, and most of all, helpful – from the nutrition beginners to the experts in our community.

  1. At the end of August I had a phone call from the GP’s surgery to come in for my annual blood pressure test. I went in about a week later, now I get ‘white coat syndrome’ with BP and felt distinctly nervous. The nurse was one I knew and was cheerful and chatty, she pumped up the device, looked concerned and pumped it up again. Oh no, I thought, what’s all this about. ‘Perfect blood pressure’, she said, 120 over 80, you have the blood pressure of a 21 year old’. At four weeks away from 69 I took this as excellent news. I have been following Dr Greger and Forks Over Knives for 17 months, I am taking this as a sign that it works. Thank you for all the information and advice.

  2. My sister is on a Standard American Diet for gestational diabetes so basically little to no fruits and carbs of any kind. Just meat and veggies. Do you have any plant based recommendations I could pass on to her?

    1. Hi Jan, thanks for your question. I am one of the volunteer moderators at the website. I would recommend having fiber containing food for example bean stews with vegetables, beans on toast, hummus and salad, seeds and nuts on salad, vegetable soup with peas and beans. For breakfast berries with oatmeal and walnut. I would refer you to the Dr Greger Daily Dozen Check list.
