Chocolate Cherry Oats⁠

Dr. Greger always keeps cocoa powder and canned water-packed tart cherries in his pantry to make his morning-time chocolate covered cherry sensation oat groats.

Daily Dozen Berries, Flaxseeds, Herbs and Spices, Nuts and Seeds, Whole Grains

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups frozen cherries
  • ½ cup steel-cut oats
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1-2 teaspoons date sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds

Instructions
 

  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.⁠
  • Add in ½ cup of steel-cut oats and 2 cups of frozen cherries.⁠
  • Cover and cook on medium-low heat.⁠

Once the oats are cooked, add:⁠

  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed⁠s
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ⁠
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder⁠
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons date sugar⁠
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds⁠
  • Mix together and serve.
