Part-Time Research Manager

The Research Manager at NutritionFacts.org will be a part-time contract position focused on one main project: updating early NutritionFacts.org videos. Responsibilities include reviewing older videos on the NutritionFacts.org website, determining if there is new and relevant research, and revising scripts in order to bring early videos up to date in terms of both style and content. The Research Manager will work closely with Dr. Greger and our scripting and content teams, and report directly to the Senior Director of Programs. We imagine this project will take one to two years depending on the volume of new research available on any of the topics covered.

The ideal candidate has experience searching, reading, and analyzing the research literature and is detail-oriented, creative, articulate, familiar with the content on NutritionFacts.org, and passionate about our mission.

Depending on the outcomes of this project and funding availability, there may be potential for this role to evolve into a long-term, full-time salaried position to help develop new videos. Responsibilities of a future, potential full-time Research Manager may include searching, reading, and analyzing new peer-reviewed scientific research and creating cohesive, engaging, evidence-based scripts to be edited and narrated by Dr. Greger and turned into new videos posted on NutritionFacts.org.

Role and Responsibilities

The Research Manager should be familiar with the content on NutritionFacts.org in order to replicate our tone and style when revising and updating scripts. They should be passionate about sifting through academic research and capable of discerning relevant information quickly. This is a remote position, so the ability to maintain a consistent work schedule and effective communication with other team members is important.

Responsibilities

  • Find, review, and analyze the primary medical and nutrition literature on assigned topics.
  • Cohesively compile a fully cited synthesis of the science on a specific topic.
  • Create annotated and updated scripts to instruct motion graphics designers on revising early NutritionFacts.org videos.

Please apply if you have:

  • Experience reading and analyzing the peer-reviewed medical literature
  • Experience writing, preferably in a medical/nutrition field
  • Familiarity with NutritionFacts.org content
  • Experience working independently in a remote setting
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively with a remote team
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet established deadlines
  • Potential interest in becoming a full-time employee
  • Preferred: Professional medical/nutrition background

Reports to: Senior Director of Programs
Hourly Rate: $60

The hours are flexible, but we estimate it will be a minimum of 10 hours, maximum of 25 hours of work per week.

After the initial application, applicants moving on to the next step will be required to submit a written skills test that may take several hours to complete. The remaining application process will also include an interview and potentially a script writing sample request.
