Super-Charged Spice Blend

Similar to Dr. Greger's Special Spice Blend from The How Not to Die Cookbook this super-charged spice blend boasts the added benefits of cumin, black cumin (nigella seeds), ginger, and black pepper. Keep this seasoning blended on hand to boost flavors or to use in place of salt. Makes 2/3 cup.

Ingredients
 
 

  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons ground thyme
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground black cumin (nigella seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon celery seeds
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Combine all the ingredients in a spice grinder to mix well and pulverize the dried herbs. Transfer the mixture to a shaker bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Store in a cool, dry place.
