Get a 2017 Daily Dozen Recipe Calendar

nf-cover-photoToday is #GivingTuesday, kicking off the charitable season with a celebration of giving and philanthropy. To commemorate it this year, we’ve created a 2017 Daily Dozen Recipe Calendar, with each month featuring a Green-Light recipe submitted by one of you! If your 2017 wall calendar doesn’t specify when National Kale Day is (October 5th, duh) then you have the wrong calendar! The first 150 people to donate $100 or more to keep the 501c3 nonprofit alive and thriving will get a calendar in time for the new year. UPDATE: We are all out of calendars! Thank you so much for all your amazing support. Please check out our other donor rewards.

In this year of post-truth politics, it’s more important than ever to stand up for the science. A soda and dairy lobbyist has been tasked with helping set up the new Department of Agriculture, which sets nutrition policy and oversees the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. If a tobacco hack was setting up the Centers for Disease Control, what do you think they’d say about smoking?

So we may not be able to rely on the powers-that-be to deliver us lifesaving nutrition facts. If only there were some sort of website that could deliver the science directly… Please join me in supporting the evidence-based nutrition revolution! Donate now

We didn’t have gift cards… until now

Shopping for someone else but not sure what to give them? How about the gift of science with a gift card (100% of proceeds go to Cards are available in three designs and come in denominations of $10, $25, $50, and $100. Ever been in a situation where the subject of diet or disease came up and you wish there were a quick and easy way to help them cut through all the nonsense out there? Well now you can! Help spread the message of dietary sanity with our brand new business cards. The two-sided card design features information about and How Not to Die with links to our social media. Share them with friends, colleagues, patients, or anyone else you think could benefit from life-saving nutritional science. They are available at cost here.

Help Wanted

Ever since I started five years ago I’ve used the presentation software Keynote to create the videos (it’s kind of like the Mac version of Powerpoint). This is only because I didn’t have expertise in high-powered software like After Effects. To give the videos a more modern feel (while maintaining the professionalism) we’re considering working with someone skilled in these more advanced tools. There are lots of design companies and freelancers out there, but as a mission-driven organization we’d rather pay someone who’s passionate about this work. If that describes you, please submit a sample of your work here.

New Volunteer Positions

Volunteers keep running! In addition to our usual roles for the Translations and Article Retrieval projects, we currently have several volunteer openings for writers, editors, Pinterest users, and tech support. For more information and to apply to help out, head to our volunteer opportunities page.

Live Q&A’s TODAY

Every month now I’m doing Q&A’s live from my treadmill, and today is the day!

  • Facebook Live: At noon ET Today go to our Facebook page to watch live and ask questions.
  • YouTube Live Stream: At 8pm ET Today go here to watch live and ask even more questions!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I give thanks for you!

  1. Wow, it looks like some great tools for getting the WFPB message out! I think I’ll get some of those business cards and leave a few at all my doctors’ offices the next time I visit :-)

    1. Agreed HaltheVegan! Good job NF team – the calendar, gift cards, business cards are all wonderful ideas. Thank You Dr Greger for your dedication and hard work!

  2. No doubt that Michael Greger in the future will improve the health of thousands and thousands of lives, and in many instances save their lives, due to his enormous commitment in getting this important message out. There are few true revolutions in medicine – sanitation, antibiotics and a mostly plant based diet – not drugs, procedures or screening – I am not in favor of early detection, I am in favor of early prevention – through diet and lifestyle changes (and the right mindset). Early detection just make you live with cancer for a longer period of time, giving the impression that the treatment works, but you were just diagnosed at an earlier state….

    1. Well, you’re one of the few and the brave. I don’t know any doctors that are even aware of WFPB health. Or seem to know anything about nutrition whatsoever actually. And I know a few. Seems to me that most doctors spend ten years or so learning how to treat disease with drugs, surgery and radiation. As far as I know, cardiac surgeons are the highest paid group of people in the US. This begs the question: What exactly would they do if they didn’t have all this business?

  3. Dr. Greggor. i tell all my contacts about u and hearing you at the Immersion Day 9/18/2016 so may i market for you and give y our cards out> Please make this reaching out easier by giving who ever a mini marketing piece directed to your website too. Gloria of

    1. Gloria Goldman: Thanks for your support! I passed your post onto the NutritionFacts staff. We are not sure what you mean by “a mini marketing piece.” Can you clarify? Also note that staff are in the process of making something like the following page available. Is this what you had in mind? :

      – Volunteer Moderator

  4. I would like to see the calendars offered every year–maybe featuring some recipes! They would be my holiday gifts for friends and family!
