Full-Time Interim Executive Director

Position Overview:

The Interim Executive Director will be responsible for guiding NutritionFacts.org through a period of strategic evolution by identifying areas of greatest impact and aligning strategy, goals, and operations with the organization’s updated purpose and mission. Using data analysis, evidence-based decision making, and collaborative dialogue with leadership and staff, this position will lead a comprehensive strategic planning and implementation process.

The Interim ED will also oversee the development and management of the organization’s budget and ensure compliance with U.S. nonprofit rules and regulations, and, in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, ensure that operational practices support strategic priorities and organizational values. The ideal candidate brings experience leading and restructuring teams, guiding strategic planning initiatives, and managing complex organizational change within nonprofit or corporate environments. We expect this role to last one year with the option of becoming a long-term position if determined to be the right fit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas of greatest impact and opportunity by using data analysis and team conversations to make recommendations and determinations
  • Build and monitor feedback loops
  • Align strategy, goals, and objectives with areas of impact
  • Lead the organization through a new strategic planning process under updated purpose and mission
  • With the Board of Directors, make staffing determinations
  • Keep leadership, staff, and Board of Directors informed throughout the process
  • Work closely with COO to update and align operational practices with updated purpose and mission
  • Create and manage the organization’s budget

Qualifications:

  • Background in data analysis and evidence-based decision making
  • Understanding of U.S. non-profit rules and regulations
  • Experience evaluating and restructuring a team
  • Experience leading teams
  • Experience leading strategic planning for a corporation, non-profit, or department

Part-Time Nutrition Research Writer

Position Overview:

The Nutrition Research Writer reviews the peer-reviewed literature on nutrition topics for the purposes of writing scripts for short videos on NutritionFacts.org. Primary responsibilities include conducting comprehensive literature reviews on a given topic and creating engaging video scripts using an established protocol to be edited and narrated by Dr. Greger and turned into new videos posted on NutritionFacts.org.

The Nutrition Research Writer has an established background of searching, reading, and analyzing research literature and is detail-oriented, creative, articulate, familiar with the content on NutritionFacts.org, and passionate about our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Find, review, and analyze the peer-reviewed medical and nutrition literature on a variety of pre-selected topics.
  • Create a synthesis of the science on a specific topic and write a fully cited and annotated script to instruct motion graphic designers on how to create videos using an established protocol.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience reading and analyzing the peer-reviewed medical literature
  • Experience writing, preferably in a medical/nutrition field
  • Familiarity with NutritionFacts.org content
  • Experience working independently in a remote setting
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively with a remote team
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet established deadlines
  • Professional medical and/or nutrition background

Part-Time Research Assistant

Position Overview:

NutritionFacts.org is seeking a detail-oriented, part-time Research Assistant to support our research team in converting writing from Dr. Greger’s books into video content. The Research Assistant will be a contract position focused on one main project: converting pre-existing book content into video scripts.

Key Responsibility:

  • Convert book sections into video scripts formatted using NutritionFacts.org annotation style

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and adhere to NutritionFacts.org’s video annotation style

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background or demonstrated experience in biomedical, health, or science-related topics
  • Experience with editing in a professional or academic setting
  • Experience reading and synthesizing scientific papers is helpful but not required
  • Experience interpreting scientific figures and tables is helpful but not required

Part-Time Research Administrative Assistant

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Research Admin to help compile and organize research data as part of Dr. Michael Greger’s video scripting process. This is a part-time, as-needed contract position.

Responsibilities:

Copy, paste, format, organize, edit, and cite annotations from marked-up PDFs into a Word document template according to specific instructions.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail: Thoroughness in compiling accurate information.
  • Self-motivated and deadline-driven: Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work with tight deadlines and possible weekend work.
  • Familiarity with and access to Microsoft Word.
