Privacy Policy — NF Signups
Effective date: July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the NF Signups app (“the App”) collects, uses, and shares information when used at NutritionFacts.org speaking events.
The App is operated by NutritionFacts.org Inc (“we,” “us,” or “our”). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@nutritionfacts.org.
Who this policy applies to
The App is used in two ways, and this policy covers both:
- Event attendees, who enter their name and email address on an iPad kiosk to sign up for our mailing list.
- Event staff/administrators, who configure the app with Mailchimp account credentials before an event.
Information we collect
From attendees, at the point of signup:
- First name
- Email address
This is the only information the App collects from attendees. The App does not request or access your location, camera, photos, contacts, microphone, or any other device data or permissions.
From staff/administrators, for app configuration:
- Mailchimp API key, Audience (list) ID, and server prefix — used solely to connect the App to your organization’s Mailchimp account
- An administrator PIN, used only to restrict access to in-app settings
How we use this information
Attendee name and email address are used solely to add the attendee to our Mailchimp email audience, so we can send updates about NutritionFacts.org content and events. We do not use this information for any other purpose, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties.
How information is stored and shared
- Signups entered on the kiosk are stored locally on the iPad in an encrypted-at-rest local database until the device successfully syncs with Mailchimp (sync happens automatically when the device has an internet connection).
- Once synced, signup records are sent directly to Mailchimp (operated by Intuit Inc.), where they become part of our mailing list audience. Mailchimp’s own handling of this data is governed by Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy.
- The administrator’s Mailchimp API credentials and admin PIN are stored only on the device, in the iOS Keychain (secure, encrypted on-device storage). They are never transmitted anywhere except directly to Mailchimp’s API to authenticate signup syncing.
- We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services in this App. No data is collected for tracking or advertising purposes.
Data retention
Signup records remain on the kiosk device until they successfully sync to Mailchimp, and may be cleared from the device afterward by event staff. Once in Mailchimp, your information is retained according to our Mailchimp audience settings and Mailchimp’s own retention practices, until you unsubscribe or request deletion (see below).
Your choices
- Every marketing email sent via Mailchimp includes an unsubscribe link.
- To request that we delete your information, contact us at privacy@nutritionfacts.org or use the unsubscribe link in any email you’ve received from us.
Children’s privacy
The App is intended for use by event attendees at public speaking events and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
